Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) awarded scholarship of Rs 2 lakh to few engineering students of National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NIT Rourkela), which is a major player in the steel industry in India, based in Odisha.
As per sources from RSP, these students have been shortlisted to take part in the international Human Power Vehicle Challenge, which is expected to be held in Florida, United States of America (USA), in April, 2014.
At present, the team is in process of creating a "hybrid human powered vehicle". This vehicle will be eco-friendly, non-fuel consuming as well as non-polluting and hence, qualifies as green sustainable technology.
RSP is a supporter of sustainable development and green technology. Hence, it is offering this scholarship as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), to motivate the students and help them participate in the prestigious global event. The NITs are a group of autonomous institutes, engaged in imparting higher education in engineering in India.
